Beverley RUFC U13s travelled to Grimsby with a strong team determined to secure a good win.
From the kick off the Grimsby team attacked Beverley and their strong attacking line managed to cross the Beverley line in the first few minutes.
The try gave the Beverley team the wakeup call they required and soon gained control of the match, firstly the forwards lead by Ben Wilkinson tackled and attacked strongly.
Beverley have much improved their rucking and breakdown play and managed to continually secure turnover ball with Harry Hesleton and Alex Crockett again strong in this department, Josh Dillon again ran strongly and continually punched holes through the defence.
A try was coming soon and Ben Walker, again playing exceptionally well, ran through the Grimsby defence and scored.
By this time Beverley had confidence, slick ball handling from scrum half Sam Acaster fed Tom Barnard and fluent move involving the backs of Louie Broughton, Toby Ashworth and Tom Haylock lead to Barnard scoring which he duly converted.
From the kick off Beverley again attacked and strong forward momentum lead to a penalty which Oliver Lazenby took forward and drove over the line, converter by Barnard.
Some loose play from Grimsby allowed Barnard to kick the ball forward and when the ball went over the line with Barnard about to touch down he was tackled without the ball and Beverley awarded a penalty try, Barnard converted.
Grimsby responded though on the stroke of half time with a well taken try.
The second half was a little scrappy but Beverley maintained control and with some good play from Ben Ashley, Louie Broughton went over for his try, Barnard converted.
With the game well and truly won the Beverley team relaxed and allowed Grimsby to score a couple of tries.
Again a very improved performance, parents player of the week went to Ben Walker and Coaches player of the week to Louie Broughton on his return to the team.
